Kiehl’s Manila Valentines Contest

My prize as a 3rd runner up!

The Contest

Winning something from an online contest makes my heart jump! There are a lot of online contest that I am joining especially when I have spare time from work and wifey duties. The thrill of it relaxes me ๐Ÿ™‚

Kiehl's Valentines Contest

Around February, I made a little shopping once again at Kiehl’s store. The SA told me that they have a contest on FB for couples. I really asked my husband to join me so I can get a chance to win ๐Ÿ™‚ After half an hour of convincing him.. he said YES! saying to pose like this as the SA recommended was truly a big deal to me.

I had fun and posted it right away on my fb wall and tagged Kiehl’s Manila facebook. A lot of my friends sent an sms/ fb message about that picture! It was a fleeting moment!

Aside from posing at Kiehl’s store while holding Kiehl’s clearly corrective dark spot solution with you partner… the picture posted on their wall should have a lot of “likes” , since I have a few selected friends on my facebook… my chances were small!!! heck, I braved messaging my family and friends from PR field (Manila Bulletin and Philippine Star) to like my photo since I am die-hard fan of Kiehl’s.

As Kiehl’sย  announced the winner before February ends, I let go the idea that I’m gonna win because the other competitors almost reached a thousand likes! yay. Fortunately since it was the first contest of Kiehl’s they also gave a loot to participants! So, we were 3 contestants and I assumed that my place is 3rd ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ms. Lala Agregado (Kiehl's Store Operations Manager)

Kiehl’s store operations manager, Ms. Lala Agregado set an appointment this week to meet me today (April 27, 2012) in able to give my prize personally. Note: She just came back from Hong Kong for a business trip andย  met me first before heading to their main office!

Lala, as she preferred to be called, is a humble beautiful woman with sun kissed skin and amazing surfer body!. We enjoyed talking about beauty products and my horrifying story before I switched to Kiehl’s.

Then she explained to me how to use the products, one by one. (which deserves a good review upon usage, so wait for that!)

in random order:

Acai Damage-Protecting Toning Mist (50 ml)

Ultra facial cleanser (travel size)

Skin Brightening Exfoliator (travel size)

Clearly corrective white clarity-activating toner (travel size)

Clearly corrective foaming cleanser (travel size)

Clearly corrective white emulsion (travel size)

Sunflower color preserving shampoo (travel size)

Facial Fuel energizing moisture treatment for men (travel size)

Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler (20 ml)

Isn’t it great? ๐Ÿ™‚

I love toning mist from Evian especially when summer comes and I think I just found a better replacement which is the Acai (pronounced as: A-SA-I)ย

Why I say so? As I went home… I already sprayed Acai damage-protecting toning mist to my face and it is just so cool and leaves my face matte and more radiant! another magical product from Kiehl’s ๐Ÿ™‚

Short story on how I fell in love with Kiehl’s

Couple of months ago… I raved about my newly discovered skincare product which is Kiehl’s! during that time, I was suffering from serious acne attack caused by medication to fight ulcer pain. That was the time that even OBAGI doesn’t work its magic on me and it’s frustrating.

In my desperation to find a new skincare products that will save me from acne attack, I saw a temporary Kiehl’s store in Trinoma. During that time, I remember how international bloggers rave about it and yeah, I know… blame it to them because I am influenced easily by beauty bloggers.

Without hesitation, I asked their SA what line of skin regimen that I can start with for oily, acne and acidic skin. They answered me in details and was very accommodating. I am sold!

My skin loved the Blue Herbal line and Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser. Since, then I become a Kiehl’s loyal consumer.

Thank you so much Kiehl’s for the lovely loot from your Valentines contest. It was a pleasure to meet Ms. Lala Agregado! Better late than never ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fabsy FOOTZY shoes on my feet

Last Thursday 4/19, I met up with the owner of Footzy Shoes Ms. Nikki Teves at SM Makati to get my first pair. You all know that I love nude colour from shoes to clothing because it really compliments my skin and classy.

Ms. Nikki Teves (fashionably preggy)

Ms. Nikki Teves was very niceย  and pretty! how I wish I can be that blooming when it’s my turn to be preggy ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyhoo, the first time I saw the Strap way to heaven sandals I know that it will be perfect on me. I always have a trouble finding the right oneย  because it kills my feet… yung tipong sinasakal yung paa? imagine, flats na masakit pa? kakalowka lang.

But of course, when I saw the collection… it will be a risk again because I don’t know if it is a really comfortable sandals, but I am a risk taker ๐Ÿ™‚

Flesh and Tan (Php1000.00)

So… *drumrolls* ย  I sent an sms right away on the number posted in Footzy Shoes and asked if I we can meet-up instead because my feet size differs in shoe design. I am so glad that they have meet ups! Ms. Nikki Teves, brought size 7, 8 and 9! (Thank you so much!) I know that I am a little OC like that, but I am not a hoarder of shoes and clothes… That’s why when I buy… I want it to be perfect, classic, functional and good quality. Kaya- swak na swak ang meet up sa akin when I am doing online shopping ๐Ÿ™‚

When Nikki showed me the sandals for fitting, I never took it off and use it all the way to I love koi grand launch.

co-models in relaxed feet ๐Ÿ™‚

It was truly perfect for an afternoon casual meeting, shopping and date! I really enjoyed wearing this! No scratches, no pain and no dirt inside that some sandals gives after hours of walking! I lovet ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy with my purchase.

Ramp Model: A plus size story

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent

That has been always my favorite motivational quote whenever I am doing something new in my life- that needs more a little push to make my self more confident. Detractors or haters will be always present and sometimes being a fat is like a disease to 101% vain people. How you get back to them? simple: Be more confident to your skin, be better and show more success in every aspect of ze life!

Ramp Modeling for I love koi (plus size) designed by Plump Pinay

Never did I imagine that I’ll do something like this! Thanks to my unhealthy obsession in makeup, skincare products and sporting fotd plus mega-emote on photos which I love to share to all of you and I guess, nag benefit ng husto ang aking hobby, para laging photo ready sa fb uploads and opprotunities like you-know-kakalowka-lang haha! ๐Ÿ™‚

note: I started to get serious taking care of my skin when I started working in PR world because of meetings, events and photo ops to be published in newspapers and magazines.

Come magical Thursday 4/19… all the modeling stint was scheduled on that day. I attended a photo shoot in the morning then had a simple lunch with my friends at PMFTC Inc. where I used to work as a PR Executive and headed to my biggest event in my entire life: Ramp modeling for grand launch of I love Koi swimwear. (oh man, from former political staff, PR executive and now presently a teacherย  + homemaker… now to do modeling for plus size babe? such a dream *twinkling eyes*)

So, you’re wondering paano ang ganap? first, I am not connected to any modeling agency nor had a professional experience for modeling and I don’t even have a set card. During my spare time in the cyber world, sometimes I wonder, what if I send my *emo* photos just for fun? for sure I’ll laugh hardcore if someone will get me. Boom* it happened! couple of months ago someone called me for a go-see and got the slot. I can super emote in the photos than in person (obviously) because I am still 80% shy.

In photo: Stacy and Danah of Plump Pinayย  ROCKING THE RUNWAY AS DESIGNERS!

Then, just the other day… I saw plump pinay posting that they need a model for plus size. I’ve been a fan of plump pinay because they stay true to their advocacy which is to be REALLY comfortable in your own skin. I e-mailed them my *emo* photos and sent them a message. I don’t even know what kind of clothing that I will be sporting and what kind of event, until they informed me! drum rolls*** swimwear.

The Prive Luxury Club, Stage Ramp ๐Ÿ™‚

Venue: The Prive Luxury Club at Fort Strip

I honestly don’t wear swimsuit alone, never in my adulthood. I don’t even wear sleeveless because I am uncomfortable with my arms and other bulging parts. Duh, I even own different kinds of spanx baby! hee hee ๐Ÿ™‚ anyway,ย  I didn’t think twice saying yes to this event. I even said to Stacy of plump pinay, if I showed up in showroom and not qualified upon fitting, I am arms-wide open in rejection. Parang top ten lang yan sa beauty pageant, okay na ang ma top 10 kahit wala na ang korona. Satisfied na ko ๐Ÿ™‚ then Stacy replied: Ikaw na napili namin!!! just be fierce on the runaways ha. Rehearsing the finale with all sexyyy models of I love koi ๐Ÿ™‚

With that being said, I totally wrapped up my work and went to showroom for fitting. I am totally ready for this, if not now.. when? I just want to make it grandiose ๐Ÿ™‚

L-R: Lace and Jade (owner of I love koi)
Lace welcomed me and in just 5 minutes of fitting…we’re done! She loved the swimsuit on me and I love the honesty ๐Ÿ™‚ (Even on the set, lace and jade is very hands on in every thing! nice ๐Ÿ™‚ )

A great figure or physique is nice, but it's self-confidence that makes someone really sexy!

It has been a hassle free and lovely day. As I went home, I was so excited and called my husband, my family and close friends informing them about the ramp. They were all excited and supportive. I am glad that I have a friend who is a professional model named Jackie Go. She is also a blogger that focusing in fashion and motherhood. I asked for her helpful tips during wee hours and the day of the event. I read her message over and over again and wrote it on my mini notebook. It’s a great confidence booster from time to time. I am so lucky to get tips from her!

Since it’s my first time to ramp, I asked my sister, brother, my bes Mylene and my guy best friend who is totally my personal photographer ๐Ÿ™‚ to watch me.

Thanks to Christian Amiel Tira for photos (personal photographer)

My sister Michelle and baby brother Gil ๐Ÿ™‚

I told my husband that I can’t let him watch because I had an experienced that I really get stoned when I see him around. As in nawawala ako sa eksena haha! like, during my graduation speech… when I looked at him, na waley ako sa speech ko. Same thing with my theatrical shows way back in College :). I told him that, he can watch on my next gig instead. He was truly supportive and happy for me. He even told me to tag him on facebook when I didn’t do it. I was a bit hesitant, praning that his friends will laugh on him. But man, he is damn proud! so, yeah… I feel more sexy than ever.

moi in less than a minute of fame in the flesh ๐Ÿ˜€

I also had opportunity to meet new friends who is more experienced in modeling. They are so nice, fun, very pretty and tall. Then the magic question popped up: how old are? most answers are, 17, 19 20 but not more than 24ish.. without hesitation I answered 27 ๐Ÿ™‚

Cool gals!

SEE!!! so girls who are even near at the big 3-0!ย  Beauty is forever.

Life is too short to have our souls be eaten away with resentment! enjoy life ๐Ÿ™‚ celebrate and whatever you do always try and give your best, work as hard as you can and try to spread generosity of spirit!

with Stacy

Thank you so much for the great opportunity, Danah and Stacy of Plump Pinay and I love koi. This is the most memorable night of my 27th year! Just looking at you guys motivates me that I can do so much more and the make me feel more comfortableย  and realized that as a plump lady: the most important ingredient in happiness within self is self-esteem: the knowledge that it is good to be what you are. Opening my heart to possibilities like this because in the end of the day; there is nothing to lose.

Cheers to Plump Pinay!

Travelogue: Ilocos Sur

We always look forward to holy week vacation due to busy schedule of my dear husband. This is the longest days we can be so-disconnected in city life. It’s a good thing once in a while. This year my husband opted to go for a long drive, take note: during peak season, NLEX and SCTEX can be your worst nightmare. We’ve been stuck for an hour just to get ticket. My husband said that in U.S. there is no such thing like that, why can’t it be free, if not now, when? le sigh.

My husband was the one who always make our itinerary, it is very detailed all the time ๐Ÿ™‚ from the hour we should we wake up until dinner time! he is full of surprises man. I am, on the other hand, in-charged in everything! from being a mother-packer to master chef. I lovet!

This year around, it’s different. We visited not only one church as we used to be, prayed, discovered new culture and take tons of picture. Walkathon is the main event! so to speak. In our 5 days in Ilocos Sur, we only spent three times walking beside the beach and took the plunge for 10 minutes. I guess, we are sawa na kaka-swim sa beach.

From the place we stayed in “Camp Hope” which was owned by a rich family (former Gen. Reyes ++) in ages, the place is to die for! It’s a front beach with a divine fish pond- right before your eyes! Oh my, I just fell in love and from the healthy brekky they served.

I feel that husband wants to learn rock climbing! (at Biak na Bato/ Bat Cave in Candon)

Emote time! a great rock formation.

We shared one bed, and I am so okatokat (scared) on the other one! hehe ๐Ÿ™‚ I am claustrophobic, so if there's affordable bigger room, we get it.

This is where we usually have our food trip together with an old dog ๐Ÿ™‚

How can you not fall in love with place ๐Ÿ™‚ so peaceful, no banging sounds of party. (yeah, I am a boring person)

Ahhh, moments like this.

Hi everyone!

I had my first set of EcoTools from my friend named Leona ๐Ÿ™‚ and since then I fell in love with it. During my trip to Singapore, we also tried to find a nearby store that sells EcoTools so I can buy more… unfortunately due to lack of time we didn’t find one. So, I am so happy when I found one at Trinoma in Pretty Goddess store inside Pop Culture. The shop is pretty cool as they also sell NYX makeup which I love and Pretty Goddess make up brushes.

This iconic EcoTools set is what started it all!ย  Whether you want to hide imperfections, define eyes and brows, or create a rosy glow, our set of five beautiful and incredibly soft brushes is the perfect start to your makeup routine.ย Brushes feature bamboo handles, recycled aluminum ferrules and incredibly soft, cruelty-free bristles.

Set Includes:

  • Blush Brush
  • Eye Shading Brush
  • Angled Eyeliner Brush
  • Concealer Brush
  • Lash & Brow Groomer
  • Hemp & Cotton Case (Room for both brushes & makeup essentials!)

Item #: 1206 (source)

Although I already have a set and I think it’s more than a year or two, the brushes are still soft and in good condition. I just don’t have Hemp & Cotton Case that I am so eager to have because it really saves space in my bag and good for travel too. What I love about my first set is that, I already have the bamboo holder for the brushes ๐Ÿ™‚

I am a MAC brush junkie but I couldn’t help to own EcoToolsย  because it has the same quality but much softer compare to MAC brush, not to forget much cheaper. You can easily have it all in one buy which I can do if only we have EcoTools store.

  • Affordable
  • Excellent quality
  • Easy grip handle
  • Non-slippery handle
  • Blends well with make up
  • Gives professional result
  • Holds it shape after washing
  • Very soft and dense bristles

  • Not available in drugstores (Watsons- SG has it) but Pretty Goddess sells EcoTools #1206
  • I don’t like the powderย  brush compare to MAC. It scatters and too big and messy upon application, I think it’s only good for finishing powder to “seal” all makeup.

I love it next to MAC brushes. I always make it a point to feel the bristles before I purchase and EcoTools passed my standards.

  • I believe in excellent quality that I usually get from branded makeup tools because they truly deliver compare to others, but if you spot a local brand that gives the same quality and satisfaction, go for it. Selecting a good makeup brush really affects the application of makeup.
  • A good set of brush will last several years if it is well cared for.
  • Clean makeup brushes every month or two.
  • Choose cruelty-free brushes! Most manufacturers note this information in the product description.
  • Brushes make all the difference in makeup application.
  • Consider investing in at least a few key brushes (like I do)

That’s all ๐Ÿ™‚

Makeup Dupes

Another beauty junkie term: Dupe

I am a little bit make up snob but I don’t mind trying local brands as long as it can meet the standards that I get from high end brands.

  • Makeup Dupe

Itโ€™s a cheaper identical (or very similar) version ofย a high end makeup product. If one is guilty to splurge for high end brands you can easily go and check drugstore makeup or our local beauty stores like HBC.

  • How do you find makeup dupes?

truthfully thereโ€™s not a cheap twin for every eyeshadow or foundation compare with lipstick. Just be patientย  doing your own research and you may be able to find a dupe for a lot of your favorite high end products. For example, you can find dupes for several MAC products from drugstore brands Rimmel, NYX, E.L.F., Wet N Wild, Maybelline, Lโ€™Oreal, and Covergirl. I love NYX as a dupe and glad to find one near store in Quezon City! (Trinoma Pop Culture) so no need for me to go to greenbelt or Serendra! ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s all gorgeous! Another word for beauty junkie.

Face Map 101

Click photo to enlarge image

Hi everyone!

To all beauty junkies, one must know the parts of face! (hindi yung langauge na: sa ibabaw ng mata, ilalim ng mata, ilalim ng kilay sa dulo, tagiliran ng buhok etc)ย  I’ve also experienced wondering “what’s crease of the eyes?” “where is eyelids? is it inside or out”? – simple questions that we are so shy to ask in avoidance of humiliation ๐Ÿ™‚

The shape of our face is defined by our individual bone structure. Beautiful faces come in every shape but still has the same face map on where to put make up. Understanding your own facial shape and bone structure will help you enhance your own individual beauty. It has been said that the oval face shape is the easiest to make up and the classiest. But in my opinion, I don’t believe in such. If you really know make up artistry, any shape of facial structure can be a masterpiece. There is no easy or difficult face shape.

Facial shapes are important in makeup only when applying blush: for most people it works on the apples of the cheeks, or sometimes just under the cheeks, or in the hallow of the cheeks to give a contour (for round and square face shapes)

Famous Facial Shapes:

  • Round face: Isabella Rossellini
  • Long face: Sarah Jessica Parker
  • Heart-shaped face: Reese Witherspoon
  • Square face: Demi Moore
  • Oval Face: Jessi Alba

Face Map Guide:

  1. T-zone
  2. T-zone
  3. T-zone
  4. Chin
  5. Jaw line
  6. Apple of the cheek
  7. Browbone
  8. Temples
  9. Crease of the eyes
  10. eyelids

So, next time you’ll listen to make up gurus in youtube, in personal classes and with other makeup junkies… Now you know the face map ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck and enjoy!
